The Ancient Egyptians would extract plants for scent, herbal remedies, and body oils.

Squalane

Squalane used in Youthful Greens Night Facial Oil Serum is a 100% plant based oil. This form of squalane is extracted and purified from olive oil refinery processing waste. This results in a product with  a high squalene concentration. However, olive squalene (with the ‘e’) is highly unstable and therefore hydrogenated to form a light and stable form as squalane. Squalane is similar to human sebum and has incredible emollient properties that is easily absorbed by the skin. Squalane improves the skin barrier by forming a protective layer and helps compensate for reduced sebum production due to ageing and improve skin elasticity.

Plant based squalane is an ethical alternative to animal squalane often taken from sharks liver, and a valuable recycled product from the olive oil refinery process.
