Glam & Good To Go Powder Facial Cleanser Ingredient Profiles

Turmeric  (Curcuma Longa)

Turmeric belongs to the ginger family Zingiberaceae, which is native to tropical South Asia.

Turmeric has been highly valued by herbal practitioners, not only within Ayurvedic and Unani traditions, but in many African herbal traditions as well.
In traditional South Asian wedding ceremonies, Turmeric symbolises peace, happiness, health and new beginnings. A turmeric paste is applied to brides for radiant skin. It's not just a new beginning for the bride but also a new beginning for her new skin cells too!

In Glam & Good To Go Facial Oil Serum, the turmeric oil we use is gently extracted from the root using steam distillation which is gentle enough to preserve its properties. This method of extraction tones down the yellow pigmentation to prevent staining. In this form, the oil is highly concentrated in anti-inflammatory compounds that clarify the complexion, improve the elasticity of the skin, improve moisture content in the skin, and help regulate sebum production that causes oily skin. These compounds can also improve uneven skin tone.

In Glam & Good To Go powder facial cleanser, the turmeric powder is produced from the turmeric roots that are cured, naturally dried and then grounded into a powder with all of its benefits preserved. Turmeric powder contains curcumin and turmerone that both have anti-inflammatory properties to help clear the skin.

Organic Orange Peel (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Peel)

The use of orange peel can be traced back to traditional Chinese medicine to treat the skin and was later adopted into Greco-Arab (Unani) herbal practices. The use of orange peel is also shared by South Asian, Mediterranean and European traditions. It’s a symbol of good fortune in China and still used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Orange peel is full of nutrients that help brighten your skin. It contains polyphenols, an antioxidant, that prevents breakouts and calms reactive skin.

It also includes antimicrobial properties that help balance the skin and prevent oily skin breakouts. Orange Peel also has flavonoids, calcium, B vitamins and zinc which all help protect your skin from sun sensitivity.

For Glam & Good To Go Facial Oil Serum, organic orange peel is infused in organic sunflower oil to extract the beneficial compounds of the orange peel. Infused oils is an age-old traditional method used for  herbal extractions and can be traced back as far as the Ancient Egyptians and were adopted by subsequent civilisations.

For Glam & Good To Go powder facial cleanser, we use organic orange peel powder which is also a natural source of vitamin C - an antioxidant that improves collagen production, skin elasticity and skin regeneration needed for smoother and brighter skin. Orange peel is a natural source of AHA which gently exfoliates dead skin cells built up on the surface.

Organic Wholegrain Powdered Oats (Avena Sativa Kernel)

Oats have a beauty tradition that goes back to ancient times. Ancient Egyptians used oats to soothe inflamed skin. The Roman poet Ovid mentioned oats for their skin benefits in his writings. Middle Eastern women have used oat baths to prepare their skin for centuries.

Oats have gentle and hydrating properties that soften and soothe your skin. Oats contain a soluble fibre, beta glucan, which naturally firms and lifts the skin in a way similar to hyaluronic acid. Oats are great for cleansing the skin due to the presence of saponins that provide gentle exfoliation. They are well documented for their moisturising, soothing, conditioning, and nourishing qualities. They significantly improve skin dryness and roughness. They also include a variety of antioxidants due to the presence of phenols including ferulic acid, caffeic acids and flavonoids. Oats are non-irritating and have low allergenic properties.

Kaolin & Illite Clays

Clay therapies have been used by many human civilisations throughout history. The Ancient Egyptians, Greeks & Romans all used clay for cleansing rituals. Ayurveda and Unani therapies have always valued clays for purifying the skin.

Kaolin clay is rich in silica and has a neutral pH. It is one of the softest and mildest forms of clay around. It contains minerals that can remove oil and dirt built up on the skin. They serve as cleansing and refreshing agents by absorbing impurities and reducing blemishes.

Illite clay is able to calm skin. It acts as a magnet for impurities, stimulates blood flow to the skin, removes excess oils and exfoliates dead skin cells. Both clays are gentle and are perfect for mild cleansing.

Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil)

Jojoba oil was traditionally used by the O’odham Native American tribe for treating their skin and hair. Mexico also has a tradition that values the use of Jojoba oil for beautiful hair and skin.

Jojoba oil is a liquid wax ester similar to the healthy oils our skin produces. It is a very gentle oil that suits sensitive skin. It improves skin hydration and can regulate oil production in the skin. It is very absorbent and has a light texture that easily penetrates the upper layers of the skin and therefore effectively delivers the nutrients needed for healthy-looking skin.

 Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (Surfactant)

The early forms of surfactants go back to the babylonian that began the development of hard soaps. It was the ancient levantines that developed plant based soap made from plant oils and herbs and by the 12th century, formed a soap industry in the Middle East.

This effective surfactant provides a mild and gentle cleanse. Sodium cocoyl isethionate is naturally derived from fatty acids extracted from coconut oil and approved for organic formulas. This beautiful surfactant produces a stable, rich and velvety lather without dehydrating your skin due to its mild properties and is 100% biodegradable.
